# The first steps into the building of the machine in its "Lab Implementation" (prototype)

[12/10/2010]

The CPU board containing the microprocessor, the first 16KB of memory, bus buffers and some other logic.

In this picture the board has been "prepared", that is pre-wired with power and ground lines as well as passive components.
This is the front of the temporary chassis. Data and Address LEDs are pending to put on.
In this view the whole thing is visible. The naked board on the right will be the Console Controller board.
CPU Board completely wired (12/16/2010).

# The day the prototype was tested for the first time

[12/17/2010]

This is the enviroment in which LC-81 is being built... a walking closet in my appartment that I turned into Electronics Shop.
Part of the today's setup involved wiring of the MC switches in the back. Long ribbon cables was used so I could place the CPU Board away from the chassis.
As expected, some modifications to the CPU Board were to be made after testing. For example, the on-board 4-pins connector for power supply (JP1) proved unpractical so I replaced it.
This is the board's lower side. To my surprise, I only catched a couple of flaws... maybe other exists that I haven't chatched yet!
